Japan may appeal against Mexican decision of AD duty on heavy plate imports-- The 20th China (Guangzhou) Int’l Plate metal, Bar, wire, Metal Processing &Setting Equipment Exhibition

The Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) said it might decide to appeal against Mexican determination of anti-dumping duties on heavy plate after Mexico confirmed the anti-dumping duty on heavy plate imports on April 30th based on the complaints from Mexican domestic steel producer Altos Hornos de Mexico, S.A.B. de C.V. (AHMSA).
This anti-dumping duty for Japan was set at US$0.236/kg, which caused impact on certain major steel producers in Japan, including JFE Steel, Kobe Steel and Nippon Steel. Besides Japan, Italy was also subject to a duty at US$0.023/kg.
The products involved in the investigation were under HS codes 7208.5101, 7208.5102, 7208.5103, 7208.5201 and 7225.4099. The period of investigation was from May 2016 to April 2017, and the period for damage analysis was from May 2014 to April 2017
