According to statistics from the Brazil Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC), Brazil’s wire exports totaled around 3,800 tons in February this year, dropping by 18% compared to the previous month while rising by 29% from the same month a year ago.
In the first two months of this year, the exports reached roughly 8,400 tons, a year-on-year increase of 22%. Among them, the exports to Argentina accounted for the largest share at 37%, followed by Paraguay’s 17% and Bolivia’s 13%.
In terms of imports, the volume totaled nearly 16,000 tons, down by 13.4% month on month and by 6% year on year.
In the January-February period, Brazil’s wire rod imports amounted to around 34,400 tons, a year-on-year hike of 10.3%. Among them, China occupied a proportion of 52%, followed by Austria’s 9.6% and Turkey’s 5.7%.
