According to a report from Glencore, the firm will play a key role to lead the global decarbonization plans by supplying metals such as cobalt and nickel, which are critical for the low-carbon economy transition. Glencore planned to achieve net zero emission by 2050.
Glencore signed a long-term supply agreement this year to supply responsibly sourced cobalt to FREYR and Britishvolt.
Glencore expected that the production of cobalt will be 32,000-38,000 tons in 2021, 45,000-51,000 tons in 2022, and stable at 50,000 tons in 2023 and 2024.
In terms of nickel, the firm expected nickel production to be 100,000-110,000 tons in 2021, 110,000 to 120,000 tons in 2022, 120,000 tons in 2023, and 135,000 tons in 2024.
