Anglo American targeted at raising its copper production. The firm is working at its Los Bronces copper mine in Chile.
Anglo American and its subsidiaries, Anglo American Platinum and Kumba Iron Ore, posed the increasing output of production in 2018. The fourth quarter was strong in production for Anglo.
Anglo''s operational performance moved up 23% in production. Its copper division output increased by 15% to 668,000 tons. Anglo would raise 25% in investment for exploration and evaluation. The investment will be related to evaluation of an underground mine construction at Los Bronces copper mine.
In July 2018, Anglo decided to work on the construction of the US$5.3 billion Quellaveco copper mine in Peru in order to increase 300,000 tons of copper a year from 2022.
The production of diamond from Anglo¡¯s 85%-held De Beers went up by 6%. De Beers expected its output to move up this year as the company will work on production underground at its Venetia mine in SA which was a US$2 billion project.
Besides, Anglo American''s total production of platinum was up by 4% and that of palladium increased by 3% compared to last year respectively. |
