According to the final Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 130,200 tons of wire rods in January this year, rising by 32% compared to the previous month and surging by nearly 179% from the same month a year ago.
Among them, the imports from Mexico accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 29,700 tons, a month-on-month increase of 138.6% and a year-on-year jump of 1,382.4%. Other main import sources included India (around 25,400 tons), Canada (around 25,200 tons), South Korea (around 12,400 tons), and Germany (around 11,000 tons).
During the period, the import value totaled roughly US$129 million, up by 35.6% month on month and soaring by 254.5% year on year.
