The nickel trading at the London Metal Exchange (LME) has been halted after the unprecedented overnight increases in the three-month nickel price, not allowing not only nickel trading in LMEselect but also nickel trading on the Ring.
The nickel price surged to US$101,365/ton on Tuesday from US$30,000 last Friday. Due to that, the LME has decided to suspend all trading of the nickel contract as of 8:15 a.m. (London time) on March 8, 2022, when the contract was halted at US$80,000/ton. All trades executed on or after 00:00 UK time on Tuesday (March 8) would be canceled until further notice.
