In early February 2022, the Lebanese government delegation headed by Prime Minister Najib Mikati visited Turkey. After that, Turkey made the decision to lift the ban on imports of scrap from Lebanon.
The Lebanese Minister of Economy and Trade Amin Salam said that exporting scrap to Turkey will allow Lebanon to earn an additional US$100 million a year.
