After flattening in June, U.S. fastener exports of iron and steel fasteners (HTS Code: 7318) declined 3% to $319.4 million in July, according to Zepol data analyzed by GlobalFastenerNews.com.
The top five consumers of U.S. fastener exports in July were Mexico (down 2.1% month-to-month to $111.3 million); Canada (up 9.4% to $82.7 million); the UK (up 3.4% to $15.3 million); China (up 11% to $15.1 million); and France (down 5.3% to $8.9 million).
U.S. fastener imports of iron and steel fasteners (HTS Code: 7318) dropped 2% in July to $423.9 million,Zepol reports.
The top five countries importing fasteners to the U.S. during July were Taiwan (up 0.1% month-to-month to $135.3 million); China (down 10.5% to $98.5 million); Japan (up 11.2% to $49.6 million); Germany (up 6% to $29.8 million); and Canada (down 27.4% to $24.1 million).
During the first half of 2015, exports rose 24% to 1.9 million tons, while imports grew 16% to 2.8 million tons.
