According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey imported approximately 9.1 million tons of iron ore from January to October, increasing by 9.9% from the same period a year ago. The import value was around US$ 1.7 billion, skyrocketing by 102.3% year on year.
Among them, Turkey imported around 4.7 million tons from Brazil, going up by 5.11% year on year. The other major suppliers included Switzerland (about 1.2 million tons) and Russia (about 1.1 million tons).
In October, Turkey imported around 950,000 tons of iron ore, soaring by 76.4% from the previous month while down by 6.3% from the same month last year. The import value was roughly US$181 million, hiking by 39.7% month on month and by 51.2% year on year. Brazil, Ukraine, and Russia were the major suppliers.
