Thailand steel industries expect government to implement tariff protection-- The 20th China (Guangzhou ) Int’l tube & pipe Processing Equipment Exhibition

Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) continued to demand that Thai government accelerate the implementation of tariff protection due to China low-priced steel dumping intensified. However, China government recently implemented new tax rebate mechanism for up to 397 export products, including 85 kinds of steel, such as hot-rolled coil, pre-painted steel coil, steel pipe, steel nail and steel frame, with tax refunds of 0-9% and 9-3% different grades, starting from September 15th.
According to FTI''s statement, many of above-mentioned steel products were imported to Thailand, and low-priced dumping will affect or even destroy local supply chain. In response, Thai steel related institutions also agreed that it will jointly report with Thai Ministry of Industry to the government, and expect to accelerate tariff protection considering maintaining domestic steel industry.
