John and Leah Kane have purchased die casting company Elecast Inc., Clarks Summit, Pa., from prior owner Dave Wessell. The Scranton Times-Tribune reports PMJ Group, which connects local businesses with potential buyers, facilitated the purchase. ¡°If I sold it to someone from out of town they might move it,¡± said Wessell. ¡°I¡¯ve got some skin in here and I want to see it continue.¡± John Kane graduated from West Point in 1994, served for five years in the Army specializing in logistics, then earned an MBA from College of William and Mary. Leah Kane, who has worked for ad agencies in New York, will lead the company¡¯s marketing and advertising. ¡°We think there¡¯s some great growth opportunity with this company,¡± said John. Elecast¡¯s seven employees make aluminum parts for office furniture and zinc parts for electric motors and other products. The short-run operation produces 5,000 or fewer parts per series, enabling fast turnarounds.
