ALD TT Adding Processes in Mexico—The 17th China(Guangzhou)Int’l Heat Treatment,Industrial Furnace Exhibition

Commercial heat treater ALD Tratamientos Termicos SA (shall we shorten this to ALD TT? Lets) in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico is adding a new process, vacuum nitriding and we were able to see to see the new equipment this past week. At this point we will back up a bit and tell you that ALD, a division of AMG of Germany is a manufacturer of a number of different types of heat treating systems but the company is probably best known for vacuum carburizing. While ALD builds new furnaces they also have three commercial heat treating plants, one near Chemnitz, Germany, one in Port Huron, Michigan and one in Ramos Arizpe which is the topic of this news item. ALD TT in Ramos Arizpe was established in 2008 and for one particular customer, GM Powertrain which of course means transmission gears although they do have other customers including Magna and Linamar.
This plant currently has 3 ALD ModulTherm systems which means 20 treatment chambers of LPC/UPQ. What they have added is two very large brand new FNC/Nitriding units which can be seen in the one photo below. For those of you interested we can say that all three of these heat treat facilities are very large by any standard; for instance Port Huron had sales of over $23 million USD in 2012 and this location has grown since then making this plant one of the largest single location heat treats in North America. ALD TT in Mexico recorded sales of almost $14 million USD in 2014 making them probably the largest single location heat treat in Mexico. If you ever find yourself near Monterrey. Mexico and for some inexplicable reason have the desire to see a really impressive heat treat I am sure the Manager, Mr. Hector Ibarra would welcome you with open arms knowing what a friendly fellow he is and more importantly how proud he is of this very impressive heat treat.
