"Meltham Thermal Engineers Ltd (MTE), heat treatment surface engineering and gear cutting specialist based in Meltham, West Yorkshire UK, are investing in a new custom designed manufacturing facility and another customer chose state of the art controlled atmosphere furnace equipment. MTE is in the process of building a 34,000 sq ft new factory in Slaithwaite, 4 miles from their current facility. The new facility will give MTE an additional 12,000 sq ft of useable space and provision has been made to allow the company in the future to extend the new factory by a further 11,000 sq ft. As part of this ￡3.5m investment the company decided to purchase two state of the art sealed quench furnaces along with all the supporting ancillary equipment and has taken on option to purchase a third furnace within two years. Jason McCartney MP visited MTE in early September to hear about the company''s expansion plans. He commented: "I thoroughly enjoyed hearing firsthand about the growth which capital investment will facilitate for Meltham Thermal Engineers. The company is maintaining the region''s reputation for excellence in heavy engineering and this substantial investment in equipment will position it at the forefront of the heat treatment industry"
Ipsen, through UK and Ireland agents Vacuum and Atmosphere Services Ltd were chosen as the supplier, to supply two off Atlas RTQF-10 sealed quench furnaces, DL-10 temperer, WPSD washer and uni-loader. The new state of the art ATLAS design comes compete with Ipsen’s Carbo-prof 4.0 control system, new Hybridcarb gas generator equipment, which is up to 98% efficient, particularly with Boost/Diffuse carburising operation. The complete installation will be “Water Free”. The new Ipsen equipment will be installed and commissioned in February 2016 at Meltham’s new brown field facility, by Vacuum and Atmosphere Services Ltd Engineers. VAS Ltd based in West Bromwich, UK, offer spares, service and support for both vacuum and atmosphere equipment for all designs and manufacturers. This prestigious order emphasises Ipsen’s intention to be a major supplier of furnace equipment in the UK and Ireland. In addition to the strong Vacuum field population, Ipsen global technology leadership in ATM is expanding further in the UK. Ipsen are established and innovative manufacturers of atmosphere and vacuum equipment, with manufacturing facilities in 5 countries."
