Unfortunately for a number of reasons the heat treating market in Australia is not a healthy one these days so it certainly made our day to run across a commercial heat treater in Adelaide who is setting records these days. Tooling and General Heat Treatment is not a large operation with roughly 10 people but they have a broad range of processes available, are finding business to be very good and are the largest player in the Adelaide market. The two extremely friendly individuals we met are shown in the photos below with Andrew Jordine, Metallurgist on the left and Dan Constable, Director on the right. Andrew by the way has spent most of his life as a metallurgist for some of the local manufacturers before joining the company a few years back. Except for a couple of 20 bar quenching furnaces at a captive down the road Tooling & General Heat Treatment would appear to be the only company in the area with vacuum furnace capacity a 6 bar VFS unit installed by a very young Rick Jones many years
