The Swiss-based Duferco backs off bid for Lucchini furnace in Italy, according to Reuters.
This reason is due to its failure to make its commitment to keep full employment and make the blast furnace operating well. Tunisia''s SMC is the only bidder who is interested in keeping the blast furnace running
However, it is not acceptable for SMC''s request to be given �300 million in return for take over Lucchini. The Piombino furnace has sufficient material to keep running until mid-April. After mid-April, it may be shut down if no suitable bid coming out.
