According to the final Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 9,400 tons of cold finished steel bar in December last year, hiking by 6.8% compared to the previous month but falling by 5.7% from the same month a year ago.
Among them, the imports from China accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 2,400 tons, a month-on-month increase of 108.6% and a year-on-year surge of 418.5%. Canada ranked second with approximately 1,700 tons, followed by Germany’s 1,300 tons.
During the period, the import value totaled roughly US$15 million, down by 3.2% month on month and up by 15.9% year on year.
