The North American Die Casting Association (NADCA), Arlington Heights, Ill.,
offers a webinar on heat treatment of aluminum die castings on December 4 at 12
noon CST. This webinar will review the metallurgy associated with the heat
treatment of aluminum alloys, as well as processes and mechanical properties of
aluminum die castings heat treated to various conditions.
These include (1) Full T6 heat treatment of conventional die castings; (2) T5
heat treatment of conventional die castings; (3) Heat treatment of low-iron
conventional die castings; (4) Heat treatment of die castings produced by the
high vacuum die casting process; (5) Heat treatment of castings produced by high
integrity processes such as squeeze & semi-solid casting.
This webinar will take place on December 4, 2013 at 12pm CST. The cost to
attend this webinar is just $39 for Corporate Member and $89 for Non-Corporate
Members. This 60-minute presentation will not only address important information
on the topic but also provide adequate time for questions, answers, and
discussion.
Historically, die castings have been used in the as-cast condition, as
exposing the castings to the elevated temperatures associated with heat
treatment can cause surface blistering. This can place die castings at a
disadvantage compared to components produced by other casting processes.
However, there has been a lot of interest recently in the heat treatment of die
castings, and recent processes will be summarized.
