Marindi Metals confirmed thick zones of zinc-lead-silver mineralisation in a maiden drilling program at its Newman project in Western Australia. The company formerly known as Brumby Resources has received assays from three of the four holes completed in the project’s Wolf area, with 58 metres grading 2.3% zinc, 0.1% lead and 13.0 g/t silver from 155 metres, including 8.45 metres at 5.5% zinc, 0.2% lead and 32g/t silver from 195.05 metres.
This intersection also delivered a 1.51-metre sample at 9.4% zinc, 0.7% lead and 141g/t silver from 200 metres. Another 66.3-metre intercept marked 2.1% zinc, 0.1% lead and 7g/t silver from 71.7 metres, including 3.9 metres at 4.9% zinc, 0.1% lead and 3g/t silver from 128 metres.
The mineralised zone ranges from 30-50 metres in true width, can be traced for about 500 metres along strike and has been intersected down-dip to about 150 metres vertical depth.
It remains open in all directions. The preliminary interpretation of the results received so far indicates that deeper drilling is required.
Drilling is currently underway at the project’s Titan coincident gravity and magnetic anomaly, with the overall drill program expected to be completed by the end of October.
Marindi’s recent exploration work has been supported by a rights issue completed earlier this year for $3.75 million.
Assays are pending for three additional holes recently drilled at Newman’s Prairie deposit, where a resource has been previously established at 3 million tonnes at 5.0% zinc, 1.6% lead and 15g/t silver.
