Alcoa decided to cut production capacity at its 2 aluminum plants in Brazil, because of growing cost and weak aluminum price.
The company will cut their production capacity by 147,000 tons. The new curtailments will include the 62,000 tons of capacity from the Poços smelter and 85,000 tons will be curt at São Luís.
Meanwhile, LME aluminum price climbed to US$1,763.25/ton on last Friday.
Rusal and Rio Tinto both closed some aluminum plants which have suffered loss because Chinese suppliers entered into the aluminum market and growing energy costs.
