China Steel Corporation (CSC), one of the steel manufacturers in Taiwan, will announce its new domestic and export market prices for its wire rod officially for second quarter in early March.
The current iron ore prices had a significant increase by US$100/ton due to the accident of Vale’s collapsed dam in Brazil. Affected by this, Vale''s mine in Brazil was shut down and Vale will reduce 70 million tons production for its iron ore in a year.
Although Chinese steel mills all increased price for the first quarter, Taiwanese CSC still kept the price flat for first quarter of 2019.
According to Taiwanese tool industry, Taiwanese domestic wire rod price was higher than international steel prices, and the import quantity also kept increasing. It had difficulty to compete in the international market. Therefore, Taiwanese tool industry hoped CSC could keep the price flat for the second quarter.
