Due to the over capacity of low-end products, unreasonable product mix, and trade barriers, the fastener export of Jiaxing City tended to decreased in an obvious degree. According to Jiaxing’s Custom Statistics, Jiaxing exported a total volume of 59 thousand tons in January 2016, 10.8% decreased comparing with that of last year; the export value totaled 0.4 Billion CNY, 20.5% decreased over that of last year; the export price reached 6,708 CNY per ton, 10.9% decreased.

USA, EU, Russia, and Latin America remained the main export markets of Jiaxing City. Based on the statistics, Jiaxing exported to 15 thousand tons of fasteners, 13 thousand tons, 6 thousand and 5 thousand to these markets respectively, while the export was 21.7%, 0.4%, 21.2% decreased and 10.6% increased comparing with that of last year respectively. The fasteners exported to these four overseas markets took around 66.1% of the total export volume of Jiaxing.

Besides the external factors of trade environments, the decrease of Jiaxing’s fastener export should also pay attention to the problems, e.g. weak innovation ability, and unreasonable product mix. To transform from the production of low-tech fasteners to high-end fasteners, Jiaxing needs to overcome the obstacles e.g. fierce market competition, low earnings ratio, and low investment on R&D of high-tech fasteners.
