Novaria Group, a Fort Worth-based company that owns aerospace and defense industry suppliers, said it has acquired John Hassall Inc., in Long Island, N.Y., which makes aircraft engine fasteners, bolts, blade locks and other hardware.

Novaria, formed by the Hunt family’s Rosewood Private Investments and Tailwind Advisers of Fort Worth, owns two area defense industry suppliers: Weatherford Aerospace, a chemical treatment and machining firm in Weatherford, and Fitz Aerospace, of North Richland Hills.

Novaria said that John Hassall has roots dating back to the 1850s when it obtained the first U.S. patent for an automated fastener manufacturing machine, currently housed at the Smithsonian.

The company plans to continue operating John Hassall at its 65,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Westbury, N.Y., with plans for expansion. The company also makes products for selects automotive and industrial applications.

“We have no doubt that their current capabilities coupled with Novaria’s existing portfolio of complementary businesses, financial resources and deliberate approach to operational excellence will produce success,” said Bryan Perkins, co-CEO and president of Novaria Group, in a prepared statement.
