It was reported that as results of the policy implemented by government for environmental protection and production restrictions in August, steel production in China has been dropped and the demand for iron ore was expected to decline, while the iron ore inventory at ports continued to fall, and prices went up.
It was anticipated that the price of iron ore will fluctuate at small range and it will be difficult to rise sharply. According to the statistics from the Iron and Steel Association, in the first half of August, the average daily output of crude steel of member steel producers was around 1.93 million tons. It was estimated that the country''s daily production of crude steel was2.55 million tons roughly, down by 2.65% from July.
According to the Iron and Steel Association, at the end of August, the China Steel Price Index (CSPI) was 121.99 points, down by 0.99 points on a week-on-week basis, a decrease of 0.81%, showing a narrow range of fluctuations.
