Since the EU cancelled the anti-dumping duty on imports of carbon steel screw against China last February, China’s screw exports to EU countries rose significantly and grew up to 30% compared with the same period of last year. The situation in Taiwan was totally opposite. Traders indicated that main reason was China occupied the standard and small screws in the overall market.
China’s screw exports to EU rose by 42.99% in January of this year, compared with the same period of last year; that for 0.36% in February and 51.66% in March compared with the same period of last year.
On the other hand, Taiwan’s screw exports to EU has fallen by 1.72% for January-April of this year. The main exports countries are included Germany, Britain, Italy, France and Spain. Traders indicated that although the average price remained steady, Taiwan’s screw manufacturers need to develop high-end products in order to compete with China.
