Japan’s steel mills increase pipe exports to US- The 20th China (Guangzhou ) Int’l tube & pipe Processing Equipment Exhibition

It was reported that the tariff policies from the US make Japan’s steel mill create demand.
Korean steel mills are facing quota system challenges as Korean steel mills products can be. Japanese steel pipe mills have increased exports of high-tech pipes for the US oil industry which can not be substituted by the US mills easily.
Korean steel mills POSCO and Hyundai Steel were not affected so badly by the quota systems as the US market is taking less than 5% of their total sales. However, for Husteel, Nexteel and Seah Steel, U.S. market accounts for 70% of their exporting sales.
Nexteel and Husteel are reducing output now and wait until October and November when they can resume the US bound shipments for 2019.
