Indian steel imports from Japan & South Korea soar in Apr-2019 China(Guangzhou) Int’l Laser Equipment and Sheet Metal Industry Exhibition

According to the reports, Indian steel imports from Japan and South Korea grew significantly and accounted for almost three-fifths of the volume of its total imports.
India is the second biggest steel producer in the world, yet its higher quality steel used for household electric appliances and automobiles mainly rely on imports.
Benefited by the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) also trade concern on the US and Europe, Indian steel materials imported from Japan and South Korea soared by 27% and 15% separately during this April meanwhile Indian exports remained slow. It brought India staying as a net importer country for the second month.
Besides, the Indian government was planning to launch protectionist measures to defend its domestic steelmakers.
